Abdominal Ultrasound
Service Description
An abdominal ultrasound is a non-invasive procedure that uses sound waves to create images of the organs and blood vessels in the abdomen. It's used to investigate symptoms like pain, bloating, nausea, and abnormal blood tests. How it works: - A transducer is placed on the skin of the abdomen. - The transducer sends out high-frequency sound waves that bounce off the organs and tissues. - The sound waves return to the transducer and are processed. - A computer converts the reflected waves into an image called a sonogram. What it's used for: - Examining the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, and urinary bladder - Assessing blood flow to the abdominal organs - Detecting conditions like aneurysms, abscesses, appendicitis, gallstones, and kidney stones
