Botox is a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When injected in very small, controlled amounts, it works by temporarily blocking nerve signals in the muscles. This causes the targeted muscles to relax, which in turn reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines that are caused by muscle contractions, particularly in areas like the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes. It's also used for various medical conditions beyond cosmetic purposes.
In what cases is it advisable?
Botox is effective in reducing wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle activity, such as forehead lines, crow's feet, and wrinkles between the eyebrows.
Some people choose to receive preventative Botox treatments to prevent the formation of deep wrinkles as they age.
Botox is used in the treatment of various medical conditions, such as blepharospasm, strabismus, hyperhidrosis, muscle spasticity, and chronic migraine, under the supervision of a physician.
